These safes are the best of the best, far superior to any modern tool rated safe. They, quite literally, “don’t make them like they used to.” The Chatwood-Milner Monarch series of safes are oxyacetylene, explosive, and drill resistive. These safes were made in England and far surpassed any UL rating that existed in the US at the time, the nearest rating that exists would be a TRTL-30×6. Their incredibly unique design features a ONE PIECE cast body encasing a 2 inch thick solid layer of torch and drill resistant armor and a 7.5″ thick door containing another 2 inch thick solid layer of armor with 2 & 7/8″ total metal thickness in the door. This design was so brilliant and incredibly strong, it led Chubb to purchase Chatwood-Milner to acquire the rights to the design. Many safes produced by Chubb after the merger featured similar design concepts and some Chubb safes were even branded as Chatwood Milner but these pre-merger safes are the most desirable.
